The Role

We're looking for a Project Coordinator to serve as the organizational backbone of our institutional partnership project pipeline. You'll track active projects from PPA execution through system energization, coordinating across internal engineering, external EPC partners, roofing contractors, tenants, and our institutional partner's team.

This isn't a role where you'll be making engineering or financial decisions. It's a role where you'll be the person who knows exactly where every project stands, who's responsible for the next step, and whether it's on track. When something slips, you'll be the first to notice and the first to flag it. When the engineering team is heads-down on technical work or pulled to another program, you'll be the voice keeping the institutional partnership projects moving.

Think of this as the connective tissue between our engineering team, our EPC partners, and our clients. The job is to make sure information flows, deadlines are tracked, and nothing gets deprioritized without a conscious decision.

What You'll Do

Project Tracking and Status Management

•       Maintain a comprehensive project tracker covering active projects from PPA execution through construction completion and permission to operate (PTO).

•       Track key milestones: interconnection application submission and approval, permitting status, roof inspection and re-roof coordination, equipment procurement, construction scheduling, and PTO.

•       Provide regular status updates to internal leadership and flag slippage or risks before they become problems.

•       Ensure institutional partnership projects maintain priority and visibility when team resources are shared across programs.

Coordination and Communication

•       Coordinate between our engineering team, EPC partners, roofing contractors, and tenants on scheduling, access, and deliverables.

•       Serve as the primary point of contact for routine project status inquiries from our institutional partner's team.

•       Schedule and document project check-ins. Follow up on action items to ensure they're completed.

•       Communicate with tenants on construction logistics, site access requirements, and timeline expectations.

Process Support

•       Support the interconnection application process by tracking submission deadlines, utility responses, and required documentation.

•       Track permitting status across multiple jurisdictions and ensure EPC partners are meeting permitting timelines.

•       Coordinate roof inspection scheduling with roofers and ensure re-roof work is completed ahead of solar installation.

•       Assist with document management for construction-phase deliverables.

Qualifications

Required

•       1 to 3 years of experience in project coordination, project management, or a similar role. Solar, construction, or energy industry experience is a plus but not required.

•       Exceptional organizational skills. You'll be tracking several projects simultaneously across multiple states and contractors.

•       Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. You'll be the go-between for internal teams, external partners, and clients.

•       Proactive follow-up mindset. If something is due and hasn't been delivered, you follow up. If you haven't heard back, you follow up again. This is the core of the role.

•       Proficiency with project tracking tools (Excel, Smartsheet, or similar).

•       Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred

•       Experience in solar, renewable energy, or commercial construction project management.

•       Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and commercial building permitting.

•       Experience working with institutional clients or large real estate portfolio owners.

•       Comfort working in a small team environment where roles are flexible and ownership is expected.

What We Offer

•       A central role in one of the fastest-growing institutional solar programs in the country.

•       Exposure to the full lifecycle of solar project development, from contract execution through energization.

•       A small, collaborative team where your contributions are immediately visible and directly impact program success.

•       Opportunity to grow into a project management role as the program scales.

•       San Diego, CA location.
