Luminator is seeking a Quality Engineering Lead to join our team. The Quality Engineering Lead will be responsible for providing leadership and technical expertise to ensure the highest standards of quality in the production of mass transit parts for the Bus division. This includes driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and fostering collaboration across internal teams and suppliers.
What Youβll Do
Customer Engagement & Issue Resolution
- Lead customer meetings to address quality concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Manage customer audits, prepare responses to findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Develop, prepare, and monitor quality performance metrics.
- Create action plans to address areas of low performance and drive improvement initiatives.
- Modify existing quality processes and procedures; develop new ones to meet evolving requirements.
- Prepare and implement Quality Inspection Instructions for various product types.
- Conduct internal audits and supplier audits to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
- Support Supplier Quality in evaluating and qualifying new suppliers and improving existing supplier performance.
- Lead investigations of customer non-conformance reports using 8D methodology.
- Coordinate failure analysis with Engineering and drive corrective actions across cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Visit customers and suppliers as needed to investigate non-conformance issues and ensure resolution.
- Prepare and monitor monthly reports for quality performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement best practices.

- Customer and Personal Service β Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Engineering and Technology β Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Mathematics β Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Mechanical β Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Quality Control Analysis β Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate performance.
- Complex Problem Solving β Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Critical Thinking β Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Judgment and Decision Making β Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Active Listening β Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

- At least 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering or related field and experience in an AS9100 or ISO22163 environment required.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and mass transit or automotive sectors preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Experience with project management applications, ticketing systems, or payroll systems in database tools required.
- Experience with Sytline, SalesForce, Replicon, or ZenDesk preferred.
Education: Bachelorβs degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Advanced degree preferred. Experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree.
Other Requirements
- Strong knowledge of quality systems and processes.
- Expertise in structured Root Cause/Countermeasure Problem Solving methodologies (such as 8D, 5W2H, A3, or others).
- Practical knowledge and leadership experience in lean management system preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft procedures and lead customer calls.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Capable of leading cross-functional teams and effectively training others.
- Process-oriented, analytical, and detail-focused.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
