Opportunity Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Lead Specimen Accessioner to join our team at Luminary Genetics in San Jose, California.

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, from either 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time 
• Compensation: $26 to $28 per hour (commensurate with experience)

How You’ll Contribute

In this role, the Lead Specimen Accessioner will:  

• Oversee daily accessioning workflow to ensure accurate and timely specimen processing.
• Provide coverage within the accessioning department as needed to support staffing and operational demands.
• Assist with workflow improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, turnaround times, and team productivity.
• Perform and maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures for accessioning operations.
• Maintain, update, and administer competency quizzes, answer keys, and training documentation.
• Maintain and present monthly non-conformance reports, including tracking trends and corrective actions.
• Maintain and implement accessioning Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance and operational consistency.
• Complete and submit CAP/CLIA accessioning documentation and forms by required deadlines.
• Assist in training and monitoring new team members to ensure competency and adherence to departmental standards.
• Monitor, organize, and maintain specimen and documentation photographs in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Assist with workflow management, process standardization, and continuous operational improvement within the accessioning department.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
• Support communication between departments to resolve accessioning discrepancies and specimen-related issues.
• Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications and Skills Include:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a science-related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory, medical office, or specimen processing role preferred.
• Strong understanding of laboratory accessioning processes and quality standards.
• Knowledge of CAP/CLIA requirements and laboratory compliance practices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely.
• Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal, training, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
