Job Summary
Our team is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to play a vital role in supporting clients, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, and assisting in their day-to-day recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily support, encouragement, and guidance to clients in recovery.
- Monitor client behavior and ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
- Assist clients with daily living skills and reinforce healthy routines.
- Ensure client attendance at scheduled groups, appointments, and activities.
- Accurately document observations, interactions, and client progress in electronic records.
- Recognize crisis situations and implement de-escalation techniques or emergency protocols as needed.
- Assist in emergency situations under the direction of clinical/nursing staff.
- Safely transport clients to and from program activities, appointments, and community outings.
- Uphold client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, state, and organizational policies.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and nursing staff to ensure coordinated care.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; college coursework in psychology, social work, or related field a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use treatment, or human services preferred.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, set healthy boundaries, and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and staff.
- Basic computer skills; prior experience with KIPU or electronic health records is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation (if transport duties required).
- Must be able to pass background checks, drug screenings, and meet state/federal employment standards.
- Ability to walk, stand, and remain active for extended periods.
