Director Of Culinary Experience Essential Responsibilities
Culinary Leadership & Dining Experience
- Lead, schedule, mentor, and supervise the culinary team.
- Create creative, nutritious menus tailored to resident preferences and wellness goals.
- Incorporate holistic, wellness-centered dining concepts, with fresh ingredients and balanced nutrition.
- Implement dementia-supportive dining approaches, including texture-modified diets, simplified choices, sensory cues, and plating techniques that promote success.
- Oversee food preparation, presentation, portion control, and meal pacing.
- Maintain a warm, welcoming dining environment that reflects true hospitality.
- Maintain a safe, sanitary kitchen that meets all regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee ordering, inventory, purchasing, and cost controls within the approved budget.
- Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal food safety regulations.
- Obtain and maintain ServSafe/Food Handler certification.
- Regularly interact with residents to understand likes, dislikes, and dietary needs.
- Collaborate with wellness and care teams on therapeutic diets and nutritional plans.
- Participate in care plan meetings as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, menus, and purchasing logs.
- Prepare annual budget requests and manage monthly spending.
- Participate in daily Stand-Up meetings.
- Support marketing efforts through tours, tasting events, and special programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary or hospitality education preferred.
- 2 years of supervisory experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality.
- Strong understanding of food safety, nutrition, and therapeutic diets.
- Experience with dementia-friendly dining is strongly preferred.
- ServSafe certification required (or obtained upon hire).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
