Software Engineer - Boston, MA
Looking for a Software Engineer to build systems supporting complex engineering and operational workflows. This is a hands-on role for a strong C engineer who enjoys working across software systems, automation, data, and real-world applications.
The ideal candidate is comfortable solving ambiguous technical problems and working closely with engineering and operations teams to develop reliable software that improves efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain software systems supporting engineering and operational workflows.
- Develop C and Python applications for automation, data processing, and system orchestration.
- Integrate software with internal tools, operational workflows, and external systems.
- Develop backend services, scripts, databases, and internal tools to improve reliability and scalability.
- Build systems for collecting and analyzing operational and process data.
- Troubleshoot complex software and systems issues across development and production environments.
- Identify opportunities for automation, instrumentation, analytics, and software-driven process improvements.
- Work closely with engineering and operations teams to translate real-world challenges into practical software solutions.
- Contribute to system architecture, technical design, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
- Own projects from initial concept through implementation and production deployment.
Required / Preferred Experience
- 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong C development experience, preferably with modern C .
- Experience with geometry, graphics, simulation, scientific computing, or other technically complex domains is a plus.
- Experience building backend systems, automation tools, data pipelines, or internal engineering software.
- Strong debugging, algorithms, and systems-thinking skills.
- Comfortable working in environments where requirements are evolving or incomplete.
- Interest in automation, robotics, hardware, physical systems, or engineering applications.
- Experience with relational databases, cloud infrastructure, containers, or data-intensive systems is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong C programming and software engineering fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Self-driven, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
