Lumia™
Boston, MA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/7/2026

About the Company

We are a well-funded startup introducing the next evolutionary step in wearables. We play at the intersection of hardware and software, human and machine learning, and consumer and medical to create unprecedented, new-to-the-world capabilities and experiences. Thinking out of the box and being able to freely traverse all engineering and business disciplines with no legacy infrastructure is our competitive advantage. We focus on achieving results through creativity, passion, team building, and plain old hard work. We are nice people, like and respect each other, and love our pastry Fridays. We are a proven team of serial entrepreneurs and world-class engineers. Our CEO’s previous startup was acquired by Bose, leading to the worldwide launch of Bose Sleepbuds. Our CTO successfully sold his previous company to Peloton, helping shape the landscape of connected fitness. While our roots are in building a Continuous Blood Flow Monitor for people with Dysautonomia and Orthostatic Intolerance, we are now expanding access to our technology to be a wearable for everyone.

About the Role

We are looking for a product-minded Mobile Engineer who thrives where chaos meets structure. You don’t just build features; you build experiences. You understand that for a D2C wearable, the app is the product.

Responsibilities

  • D2C Product Development: Design and build high-performance, high-fidelity mobile experiences using Flutter. Translate complex biometric data into intuitive, "snackable" insights for the general public.
  • Scaling & Growth: Architect the app for scale. Implement best practices for performance optimization, state management, and localized data handling as we move from startup to mass-market growth.
  • Cloud & Backend Integration: Own the integration with AWS and other SAAS applications (Cognito, Amplify, IoT Core, Rudderstack, Launchdarkly, Payload CMS) and manage robust embedded databases (SQLite) for offline-first capabilities.
  • Hardware Connectivity: Manage complex Bluetooth/BLE communication protocols between our wearable device and the mobile interface.
  • Production Excellence: Oversee the end-to-end CI/CD pipeline. Build out monitoring, staged rollouts (Fastlane), and A/B testing infrastructure to iterate based on user feedback.
  • Leadership: Act as a technical pillar for the team, mentoring junior talent and collaborating directly with other leads to define and execute on the technical roadmap with our D2C growth strategy.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5 years in mobile development, with at least 2 years of proven experience scaling a mobile app through a significant growth phase.
  • D2C Pedigree: Previous experience in a D2C, Wearable, or Health-Tech startup is highly preferred.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Dart/Flutter and a deep understanding of design patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, etc.).
  • AWS Expertise: Extensive experience with AWS Amplify, Cognito, and AppSync.
  • Hardware Savvy: Strong background in Bluetooth/BLE integration and IoT device communication.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.

Required Skills

  • Dart and Flutter proficiency
  • Experience with AWS services
  • Bluetooth/BLE communication protocols

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in D2C and wearable technology
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes

Pay range and compensation package

  • Equity upside
  • Retirement plan (401k)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance reimbursement
  • Commuter benefits
  • Pastry Fridays

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are committed to diversity and inclusivity in our hiring practices.
