What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Coordinator (Dental Treatment Coordinator) position at Lumen Smiles?
Be the Reason Patients Say Yes to a Healthier Smile
We're a privately owned, multi-office dental clinic serving Houston, and we're looking for a warm, driven Patient Care Coordinator to be the bridge between our clinical team and our patients. If you love connecting with people, take pride in turning a nervous patient into a confident one, and want a place that invests in your growth — read on.
This is more than a front-desk job. You'll be the trusted guide who walks patients through their treatment plans, removes the confusion around cost and insurance, and helps them move forward with care they need. When you do this well, patients feel cared for and our practice thrives. It's a role with real impact.
What You'll Do
- Partner with our dentists and clinical staff to present treatment plans clearly, accurately, and with confidence
- Sit down with patients to explain recommended care, walk through costs, and build financial arrangements that work for them
- Turn questions and hesitation into trust — answering concerns with empathy, patience, and reassurance
- Own treatment-related paperwork: insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and financing options
- Support the team with recall efforts, insurance verification, and scheduling as needed
- Follow up with patients to keep treatment on track and the schedule full
- Create a 5-star experience at every touchpoint, in full compliance with HIPAA and OSHA
What You Bring
- At least 2 years of experience in dentistry
- Solid knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance billing
- Confidence presenting treatment and discussing finances with patients
- Outstanding verbal and written communication, plus sharp organizational and multitasking skills
- Proficiency in dental software (Dentrix, Open Dental, or similar)
- A proactive, energetic, hardworking attitude and a genuine willingness to learn and grow
- Availability to work Saturdays (our offices are open 7 days a week)
- Bilingual in Spanish is a must
Why Join Us
- A dynamic, patient-first culture where your work genuinely matters
- A privately owned, multi-office practice — not a faceless corporate chain
- Real opportunities for personal and professional growth
- A supportive team that wins together
If you're positive, detail-oriented, and ready to make patients feel truly cared for, we'd love to meet you. Apply today.
