What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reformer Pilates Instructor position at Lumen Pilates?
Lumen Pilates is a precision-led boutique reformer studio in Chatham, built on consistency, high-touch coaching, and intelligent movement. We're looking for an instructor who teaches with the same care.
The role
You'll lead group reformer and tower classes, coaching with precise cueing, hands-on attention, and thoughtful modifications. Private sessions are taught on the reformer, Cadillac, and chair, with reformer work including connector straps. At Lumen, clients book the studio's standards, not a personal style, so consistency and craft matter.
What you'll do
- Lead group reformer and tower classes to a high, repeatable standard
- Teach private sessions on the reformer, Cadillac, and chair
- Cue with precision and modify intelligently for every level
- Reset and maintain the studio space between classes
- Take part in ongoing training and team check-ins
What we're looking for
- Reformer teaching experience and fluency in functional anatomy (required)
- A comprehensive Pilates certification from a recognized program (Balanced Body or equivalent) preferred; we'll also consider instructors certified on the reformer alone
- Tower, Cadillac, chair, and connector-strap knowledge preferred
- Reliability, professionalism, and genuine care for clients
- CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Open to morning, midday, evening, and/or weekend shifts
Currently working toward your certification? Our apprentice program is open to instructors on that path.
What we offer
- $50-75 per hour, depending on class size and experience; semi-private sessions $65-75
- A structured apprentice track for instructors working toward certification or learning the Lumen system, at a training rate
