Physician Assistant
Location: IHS outpatient department - Rosebud, SD 57570
Pay Rate: $65 per hour $1,246 Travel stipends (if applicable)
Payroll is processed on a biweekly basis.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM, excluding federal holidays
Contract Length: 3 months with the option to extend
This is a federal contract in the bidding process open to locals and travelers
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services at an Indian Health Service facility in Rosebud, South Dakota. This position offers the opportunity to care for patients across the lifespan while working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on improving health outcomes in an underserved community.
Requirements:
Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
Current NCCPA certification (PA-C)
Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in any U.S. state or territory
DEA registration with Schedule II V prescribing authority
Current BLS certification
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience
Experience in rural health, FQHC, IHS, or underserved community settings preferred
Strong commitment to culturally competent, patient-centered care
Proof of active Liability Insurance
Ability to meet IHS credentialing and background requirements
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive primary care services for adult, pediatric, and adolescent patients
Perform patient evaluations, physical examinations, diagnoses, treatment planning, and follow-up care
Manage acute and chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and behavioral health concerns
Order, interpret, and review laboratory studies, diagnostic testing, and preventive screenings
Conduct wellness visits, health assessments, immunizations, and preventive care services
Provide patient education focused on disease prevention, medication management, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices
Perform minor office procedures within scope of practice and facility privileges
Screen for behavioral health concerns, substance use disorders, and social determinants of health
Coordinate referrals, specialty consultations, and multidisciplinary care plans
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record system
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical meetings, and required training programs
Support IHS performance measures related to chronic disease management, preventive care, immunizations, and population health
Expected hours: 40 per week
