a day in the life: what you’ll do
Art Direction
- Own the art direction of global brand identity expressions — campaign, OOH, retail, digital, and beyond
- Translate the Creative Director's vision into executable creative frameworks that maintain a consistent, evolving global identity
- Develop and evolve sophisticated brand expression systems: color field treatments, typographic hierarchies, graphic systems, and motion language
- Drive conceptual development from insight to final execution, working hand-in-hand with copy, digital, retail, packaging, and strategy leads
- Identify expression gaps and inconsistencies across channels and markets; propose solutions proactively
- Maintain and evolve the Global Brand Identity design system so it scales across markets without losing specificity or integrity
- Contribute to brand guidelines with precise visual examples for every principle — our design studio’s examples are the guidelines and standard.
- Develop presentation strategies that build alignment with cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership
- Interpret brand creative performance data and translate insights into stronger future executions
- Partner daily with the Creative Director to execute and push the brand's creative vision forward
- Build productive working relationships across brand marketing, campaigns, product, and regional teams worldwide
- Direct agencies, freelancers, and contractors — briefing, reviewing, and elevating their work to standard
- Manage personal deliverable timelines, production schedules, and creative milestones to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery across multiple simultaneous workstreams. This is done in collaboration with our Creative Operations partners, but our studio requires a quality of high personal agency and responsibility.
- Bring exceptional typographic and compositional craft to every execution — held to the standard of the best brand studios in the world
- Maintain a genuine pulse on culture — design, fashion, art, sport, music, technology — and bring that fluency into the creative process
- Contribute to a studio culture defined by high standards, creative curiosity, and collaborative generosity
- Mentor and manage junior team members both regionally and globally through thoughtful creative feedback and in-the-work guidance
Skills & Approach
- A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional typographic sensibility, compositional rigor, and the ability to build coherent visual systems — not just beautiful one-offs
- Experience developing and stewarding brand identity or expression systems at a global scale
- A genuine and practiced eye for culture: fashion, art, music, design, sport — and the fluency to translate that into brand-relevant creative decisions
- Strong conceptual thinking: the ability to move from insight to idea, and from idea to a system of executions
- Direct and comfort agencies at a senior level, with clear and constructive creative feedback
- A collaborative working style — generous with ideas and equally skilled at building on others’
- Expert proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite; experience with motion, 3D, or emerging design tools is a plus
- Strong presentation and communication skills: you can walk a cross-functional audience through a creative system and make them feel what you see
We review portfolios carefully and weight them heavily in our evaluation. We’re looking for work that demonstrates a singular point of view — not versatility for its own sake. Show us the work you’re most proud of and the thinking that drove it.
Experience
- 8-12 years of experience in brand identity, design, or art direction — high-level freelance, agency, in-house, or studio
- Experience managing a small team
- Demonstrated experience working on a global brand at the identity level, not just campaign execution
- A track record of directing creative at a consistently high standard across multiple channels simultaneously
- Experience managing or mentoring junior designers is strongly preferred
- Acknowledge the presence of choice in every moment and take personal responsibility for your life.
- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results.
- Communicate with honesty and kindness and create the space for others to do the same.

- Integrate fun and joy as a way of being and working, aka doesn’t take yourself too seriously.
