Upward Bound program serves 60 students that are either first generation and low income students and assists them in preparing for a post-High school education.
This position develops a lesson plan and teaches subject area classes during the six-week summer Program for Upward Bound students at Grossmont college. Teacher develops a non-traditional lesson plan that covers the basic concepts required for success in high school level courses - lessons that are designed to provide instruction of students based on their level of achievement.
Open Positions: Math teacher ( Geometry, Algebra, Pre-Calculus), Science teacher ( Chemistry, Biology, Physics) and Spanish. Applicants may apply for multiple positions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Work under the general supervision of the Upward Bound Director; develop a lesson plan, teach subject area classes during the Summer program at Grossmont College. The specific duties are:
· Develop lesson plan in consultation with the Program Director
· Attend staff meetings as scheduled
· Evaluate and assess student’s progress and achievements during the program
and submit final assessments at the conclusion of Summer program.
· Submit student work and documentation as needed
· Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with a strong background in subject area is required. Teaching certificate is also required and one year of teaching experience in High School.
Assignment and compensation:
Classes begin June 22nd-July 31st.
Salary: $3,850 Stipend. ( bi-weekly pay)
