What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Social Media Content Creator | Luke's Lobster position at LUKES LOBSTER?
Luke’s Lobster is looking for a Seasonal Social Media Content Creator who lives and breathes content creation and has a finger on the pulse of brand social to join our Marketing team. This is not a desk job — this role is for someone who is constantly on the move, out in the world capturing the story of Luke’s Lobster in real time.
You’ll be based in Portland, Maine, but instead of working in an office, you’ll be in the field: on docks, on boats, in kitchens, in lobster shacks, and wherever great content is happening. If you’re the kind of person who instinctively pulls out your phone to capture a moment, stays on top of every TikTok and Instagram trend, and isn’t afraid to try something new (or a little weird), this role is for you. You will be perfect for this role if you’re chronically online, know your way around the iPhone camera, and can translate brand messaging into internet culture.
You’ll work closely with the Marketing Director and Creative Assistant to bring the Luke’s Lobster brand to life across social media, helping drive engagement, awareness, and growth across all channels.
Your responsibilities would include:
- Capture and create original, high-quality photo and video content daily — in kitchens, on lobster boats, in shacks, and out in the community
- Live in the field, proactively seeking out moments that tell the Luke’s Lobster story
- Support creation and editing of social content - translating what you shoot into platform-specific content through video editing, copy writing, concepting, etc.
- Support the execution of social specific concepts and activate on-brand trends that are happening in the moment
- Stay on top of social media trends and quickly translate them into content ideas for Luke’s
- Have an understanding of what is working on Luke’s social and be able to replicate it
- Work closely with the Marketing Director and Creative Assistant to execute and evolve social strategy
- Monitor performance and optimize content based on engagement and trends
- Have experience with CapCut, Canva, or in-app video editing on Instagram and TikTok
Who You Are:
- Based in Portland, Maine and excited to work fully in the field (not in an office)
- Constantly creating — you’re already making TikToks, Reels, or other content regularly
- Deeply tapped into social trends, formats, and platform nuances
- Have an understanding of brand social and how it differs from personal social
- Daring, curious, and willing to try anything to get great content
- Comfortable filming in any environment — from busy kitchens to working lobster boats
- Self-motivated and proactive; you don’t wait for ideas, you chase them
- Strong eye for storytelling, composition, and what performs on social
- Organized enough to manage posting schedules and content flow
- Bonus points if you have experience growing or managing a social account, are comfortable editing video directly on mobile (CapCut, Instagram, TikTok, etc.), love lobster, and are open to occasional travel
Work Period : Approximately end of May - September
Hourly rate: $20/hour
Hours: Minimum of 20 hours per week, maximum 40 hours per week. Will vary depending on the week and we will collaborate based on company events and your schedule.
Submission requirements:
Social Video Submission:
Instead of a cover letter, we want to see how you think, shoot, and create. Create a short-form video (in the style of a Reel or TikTok) that shows us your ability to capture a moment or story and turn it into engaging, platform-native content.
This video does not have to be about Luke’s Lobster but it should feel like something a brand would post (not just a personal vlog). Think storytelling, pacing, hooks, and what makes someone stop scrolling. We’re less interested in polish and more interested in your instincts, creativity, and understanding of what works on social
Your video should demonstrate:
- A clear point of view or concept
- Strong hook
- Thoughtful framing/composition
- Editing that feels native to TikTok/Reels (cuts, pacing, captions, sound, etc.)
- An understanding of what makes content engaging or shareable
- Your ability to turn a real-life moment into a social media story
- Bonus if it taps into a trend, but only if it feels natural.
Please submit:
- One video (.mov or .mp4)
- Length: 15–45 seconds
- Format: Vertical (9:16)
- Platform-native style (TikTok or Instagram Reels)
- Shot and edited by you (phone is totally fine - preferred actually)
- Any relevant on screen text or captions
- Please email your submission to: socialmedia@lukeslobster.com
- Please also complete the Paycom application
Optional:
- Link to any TikTok/Instagram/social pages that you have worked on in the past (other brands, personal, creators, etc.)
- General creative portfolios or examples of past work
Benefits:
- Low-asset fee 401k retirement plan after one month
- Life Insurance
- Pre-Tax Commuter Benefits
- Employee Discounts
- Pet Insurance
- 50% off in shack
- 25% off Luke’s Online Market
- Casual dress code and environment
Salary : $20
