Position Summary
The Field Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily construction activities in the field, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to LUKA's quality standards. This role serves as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining job site organization, solving field issues, and ensuring excellent communication between the office, clients, and trade partners.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing luxury residential construction projects and possesses strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
• Supervise day-to-day construction activities on multiple residential projects.
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship and schedule compliance.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and engineering drawings.
• Review plans before construction and identify conflicts or potential issues.
• Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and local building codes.
• Monitor project schedules and proactively address delays.
• Coordinate material deliveries and verify materials before installation.
• Conduct quality control inspections throughout all phases of construction.
• Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective work is completed promptly.
• Maintain daily construction reports, progress photos, and documentation.
• Communicate project progress with company leadership.
• Coordinate required inspections with county inspectors.
• Work closely with project coordinators, designers, engineers, architects, and office staff.
• Assist in resolving field conflicts and unforeseen construction conditions.
• Ensure subcontractors follow OSHA and company safety requirements.
• Protect client property and maintain a professional job site appearance.
• Participate in weekly project meetings and planning sessions.
• Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and final inspections.
Qualifications
• Minimum *5 years of experience* supervising residential construction projects.
• Extensive experience with:
* Custom homes
* Large-scale remodeling
* Additions
* Structural renovations
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing project schedules and coordinating multiple trades.
• Strong understanding of framing, foundations, roofing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, drywall, trim, finishes, and exterior construction.
• Experience working with luxury residential finishes is preferred.
• Familiarity with building codes and inspection requirements throughout Northern Virginia.
• Experience working in jurisdictions such as Fairfax County, Arlington County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax City, and surrounding areas is highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to solve problems independently and make sound field decisions.
• Strong communication skills with homeowners, subcontractors, inspectors, and office staff.
• Proficient with smartphones, tablets, email, and construction management software (Buildertrend experience is a plus).
Requirements
• Valid Virginia driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel between multiple job sites throughout Northern Virginia.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders and walk active construction sites safely.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction management software.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
