The work location for this position is in either our Woodland or Roseville, California offices.

PROJECT ENGINEER POSITION SUMMARY:

LSCE is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Project Engineers to join our Engineering team in either our Woodland or Roseville, California office. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy working on a variety of water resources engineering projects in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with strong mentoring and professional development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have five (5) or more years of experience in water resources engineering and hold a California Professional Engineer (PE) license.

As a Project Engineer, you will contribute to a diverse range of projects, including the design and construction of water production, treatment, and storage facilities; preparation of technical evaluations and water system planning studies; and consulting with public agencies on regulatory compliance and water supply planning.

This position offers the opportunity to participate in every phase of a project, from proposal development through design and construction, while working closely with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.

PROJECT ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Assisting or dealing with the development of civil and mechanical designs for municipal water infrastructure projects, preparing design plans, preparing construction specifications, and preparing detailed cost estimates.
  • Preparing engineering calculations and analysis of hydraulic systems for the design of well pumps, booster pumps, hydro-pneumatic tanks, storage reservoirs, chemical treatment systems, and process controls.
  • Incorporation of drinking water treatment systems, including groundwater and surface water treatment, into design plans and specifications.
  • Management of time and responsibilities for multiple projects.
  • Assisting senior staff with construction management.
  • Conducting field inspections, data collection, and sampling, and keeping detailed notes.
  • Technical reviews, permitting compliance, water supply and treatment studies, analysis of alternatives, water supply and demand analysis, interpreting data, hydraulic modeling, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Attending meetings with clients and project team members and assisting with the preparation of meeting presentation materials, as needed.
  • Working with and mentoring staff engineers.

PROJECT ENGINEER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering (Water Resources emphasis) or other related engineering degree.
  • Professional Civil Engineering License in California.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional engineering experience in water resources and consulting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, work ethic, and ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with others.
  • Highly motivated, with strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and takes pride in the development of high-quality deliverables.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
  • Familiarity with, or the interest in and ability to learn, hydraulic modeling software for water distribution systems (e.g., InfoWater PRO,).
  • Excellent written and communication skills.

PROJECT ENGINEER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Background or knowledge of groundwater and surface water treatment, pump design, water distribution and storage, and municipal/potable drinking water standards.
  • Knowledge of California water resources, drinking water permitting, and well design practices.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

LSCE offers a competitive salary ($90-140 per year) and benefits package. Salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. LSCE benefits include health, dental, life, and 401k and profit-sharing retirement plans.
