Job description:
We are seeking a full-time, detail-oriented receptionist/legal assistant to join our team at a fast-paced, five-lawyer firm that primarily handles criminal defense, family law, landlord-tenant law, and probate/estate planning. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support and ensure efficient office operations.
Duties:
- Intake for all prospective clients by phone or email, including soliciting basic information from the caller about the nature of their case, running a conflict check, and routing the call to the appropriate attorney
- Handling the phones and organizing new client information
- Managing incoming emails and calendars, including critically important court calendars
- Perform general office tasks such as filing, data entry, and organizing documents
- Help prepare exhibit binders for hearings or trials
- Communicate with vendors, clients, property manager, and other third parties
- Run errands including trips to banks, the post office, and courts
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience in a law office preferred but not required
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively
- Must have a car to run errands - mileage is reimbursed
