Duties
Must be comfortable working along the owner to learn the role.
- Supervise and coordinate daily kennel activities, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals’ health and behavior
- Lead and mentor kennel staff to ensure adherence to safety protocols, animal handling procedures, and hygiene standards
- Assist with dog training activities to promote good behavior and socialization among animals
- Handle pet grooming and pet sitting tasks to maintain animals’ comfort and well-being
- Restrain animals safely during examinations or treatments using proper restraint techniques
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and assistants to support medical treatments and record keeping
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their animals’ needs and care routines
Requirements
- Proven experience in dog handling, pet grooming, or kennel operations with a strong understanding of animal care practices
- Veterinary experience or veterinary technician background highly preferred
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior management
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling large or multiple animals
- Excellent animal restraint skills combined with animal handling expertise
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners
- Prior veterinary assistant or kennel experience is advantageous
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a proactive approach to team coordination and problem-solving
