LUCIEN is a 30-seat fine dining restaurant in La Jolla, California. Helmed by Chef Elijah Arizmendi, whose career has taken him through acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurants such as Per Se, Robuchon, and Restaurant Daniel, LUCIEN will offer guests a tasting menu experience that embodies Chef’s vision for Californian cuisine. At LUCIEN, we’ll be celebrating local farms and fishermen – taking only the best ingredients at their peak in seasonality and elevating them through both modern mastery and time-honored techniques.
We are seeking an ambitious, passionate, and detail-oriented individual to join our opening team as ASSISTANT CAPTAIN / EXPEDITER (Expo).
As Expediter, you are the critical link between the kitchen and front-of-house team. You ensure that each dish meets the highest standards for presentation, quality, and timing before it reaches the guest. You are highly organized and calm under pressure.
As a part of team, you have an ownership mentality; you obsess over guests and constantly strive to go above and beyond in the pursuit of excellence.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of food and beverages and a passion for culinary arts
- 1 years of experience in fine dining. Michelin experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and composure under pressure
- Strong communication skills to efficiently communicate with BOH and FOH
- A team player with a positive attitude
- Familiarity with POS systems (Toast) and reservation systems (OpenTable) is a plus

Pay: $17.25 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
