What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tech Savvy Operations Assistant position at LUCIA Custom Painting & General Contracting?
Position Overview
We’re looking for a sharp, tech-savvy, motivated young professional to work directly alongside our painting company owner. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you’ll act as the owner’s right-hand—riding along daily to client meetings, job sites, and supplier runs.
You’ll gain real-world experience in estimating, operations, project management, and running a growing construction business. This is not a desk job—you’ll be in the field, in the truck, and in the middle of everything.
What You’ll Do
- Ride along with the owner to:
- Meet prospective clients and assist with estimates
- Visit active job sites to monitor progress and quality
- Take detailed notes during client meetings and:
- Enter Scope of Work (SOW) into our estimating software
- Help schedule painting crews and coordinate with subcontractors/trades
- Pick up and organize materials and supplies from vendors (paint stores, Home Depot, etc.)
- Photograph job sites and:
- Organize and manage photos in our digital system
- Assist with company social media updates (project highlights, before/after content)
- Support general office and administrative needs
- Work remotely from the truck (laptop provided) while being driven around
Who You Are
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with laptops, apps, and software
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- A quick learner who can take direction and execute
- Professional, punctual, and reliable
- Comfortable interacting with homeowners and team members
- Able to multitask and adapt in a fast-moving environment
- Interested in construction, business, or project management
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to meet David in San Marcos
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency (Google Sheets, Workspace, Office 365, Word, photos, etc.)
- Ability to work full days in the field (riding along in company vehicle)
Why This Role is Unique
- Direct mentorship from a business owner
- Learn estimating, operations, and client management firsthand
- Opportunity for rapid growth within the company
- Gain valuable experience that can translate into future leadership roles
