Overview
We are seeking a Captain Server (Floor Leader) to help drive exceptional service, strong team performance, and consistent execution across our dining room.
This is not just a serving position—this is a leadership role.
As a Captain, you will act as a key presence on the floor, supporting the team during service, elevating the guest experience, and ensuring every shift runs smoothly and efficiently. You will work closely with management and our Production Manager to uphold service standards, execute specials, and coach team members in real time.

Key Responsibilities: Floor Leadership & Service Execution
- Act as a leader on the floor during service, helping maintain flow, pacing, and organization
- Support servers, bartenders, and support staff during peak periods
- Ensure all service standards and steps of service are executed consistently
- Assist in managing table turns, section balance, and overall guest flow
Guest Experience
- Deliver an elevated, attentive, and personalized guest experience
- Perform table touches beyond your section to ensure satisfaction across the dining room
- Handle guest concerns professionally and efficiently, escalating when necessary
- Create a welcoming, energetic atmosphere where guests feel valued
Team Support & Coaching
- Mentor and support team members in real time during service
- Reinforce service standards, product knowledge, and professionalism
- Assist with onboarding and training of new staff
- Lead by example in attitude, work ethic, and execution
Sales & Product Knowledge
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of menu items, specials, and pairings
- Actively promote specials, wine, sake, and featured items
- Support the team in increasing check averages through confident recommendations
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as a communication bridge between FOH and BOH
- Ensure team awareness of:
- Specials
- 86’d items
- Timing or kitchen updates
- Support pre-shift alignment and daily communication
Standards & Operations Support
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the dining room
- Ensure compliance with food safety and service standards
- Assist management in executing a smooth, high-performing shift
Qualifications
- 2 years of serving experience in a high-volume or upscale environment
- Proven ability to lead and support a team during service
- Strong understanding of service flow, timing, and guest experience
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and effective under pressure
- Positive attitude with a strong team-first mindset
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Wine, cocktail, or sake knowledge
- Experience in upscale or chef-driven concepts
- Previous leadership, training, or mentoring experience
- Familiarity with POS systems (Aloha, Micros, or similar)
