Facilities Maintenance Technician – Afternoon/Evening ShiftJob Overview

We are seeking a qualified Facilities Maintenance Technician to provide dedicated onsite support within a fast-paced, technology-focused corporate office.

This position will provide afternoon into evening coverage and support general facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, vendor coordination, and after-hours work that cannot easily be completed during peak business hours.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, technically capable, professional, and comfortable working independently while maintaining strong communication with the onsite Workplace and Facilities teams.

Schedule & Coverage

This position will work a consistent afternoon/evening shift, with exact hours established based on operational requirements.

Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to support after-hours repairs, vendor activity, preventive maintenance, building shutdowns, office projects, installations, events, and urgent facility issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general facility maintenance and minor repairs throughout the office.
  • Troubleshoot and repair doors, hardware, furniture, fixtures, and workplace equipment.
  • Perform basic patching, painting, carpentry, and minor plumbing repairs.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical issues involving lighting, switches, outlets, and fixtures when within qualifications and permitted scope.
  • Conduct routine facility walkthroughs and proactively identify maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules.
  • Respond to Facilities and Workplace service requests and work orders.
  • Support after-hours repairs and projects to minimize disruption during normal business hours.
  • Assist with furniture adjustments, installations, mounting, minor moves, and workplace projects.
  • Coordinate with building management, Security, IT/AV, Workplace, Facilities, contractors, and specialty vendors as needed.
  • Provide onsite support and oversight for vendors performing evening work.
  • Recognize when an issue requires a licensed trade or specialty contractor and escalate appropriately.
  • Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Document completed work, outstanding issues, vendor activity, and recommended follow-up.
  • Provide clear handoff notes for items requiring attention the following business day.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial facilities maintenance, building operations, handyman services, or a similar role.
  • Strong general repair and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic electrical and plumbing troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with door and hardware adjustments and repairs.
  • Experience with furniture and fixture repair and installation.
  • Experience with patching, painting, and minor carpentry.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance and routine facility inspections.
  • Ability to recognize when work should be escalated to a licensed or specialized trade.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is preferred but not required:

  • Basic HVAC knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with commercial HVAC equipment and controls.
  • Building Management System (BMS) experience.
  • Experience supporting preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience coordinating or overseeing third-party vendors and contractors.
  • Experience supporting office moves, installations, events, and after-hours projects.

Technology & Communication

This is a technology-forward workplace, and the technician must be comfortable using digital tools as part of their daily responsibilities.

Candidates should be comfortable using:

  • Jira or similar ticketing/work-order systems.
  • Slack for workplace communication.
  • Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
  • Smartphones, computers, and other workplace applications.

Candidates must be able to learn new systems quickly and read, write, speak, and understand English fluently to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, building management, Security, and Facilities/Workplace teams and accurately document completed work.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is reliable, professional, detail-oriented, and takes ownership of their work. The ideal candidate should have strong customer-service skills, good judgment, clear communication, and the ability to prioritize multiple requests while working independently.

You do not need to be an expert in every building trade. We are looking for someone with a strong general maintenance foundation, good troubleshooting instincts, comfort with technology, and a high level of ownership.

The right candidate should be able to assess an issue, determine what can be safely resolved, recognize when additional expertise is required, document the work, and follow through until the issue is properly addressed.
