About The Lucas Museum Of Narrative Art

Opening in September 2026, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is dedicated to illustrated storytelling. Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum’s collection features works by artists including Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judith F. Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish; as well as comic art legends such as Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb; and photographers Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. The Museum also houses the Lucas Archives, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas’s filmmaking career.

Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with a landscape by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA, the Museum is in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on an 11-acre campus that includes new green space and a 300,000-square-foot building with galleries, two theaters, a library, restaurant, café, retail store, and community spaces. 

Position Summary

The Project Manager provides vital support to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art by coordinating day-to-day project operations for the Security Department while closely interfacing with the Director’s Office. This role ensures cross‑departmental alignment by maintaining project documentation, tracking timelines and milestones, preparing materials for institution‑wide and departmental meetings, and flagging issues that may affect schedules or dependencies. The Project Manager will also support the Chief Security Officer and Security Manager with collecting and analysis of third-party security contractors with daily hour reports, invoicing, performance KPI’s etc.

Working collaboratively with teams across the museum, the Project Manager helps maintain momentum on major initiatives by driving project execution, ensuring accurate and timely updates, and supporting accountability to established plans. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to fostering transparency,

communication, and collaboration.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver and exceptional communicator who thrives in dynamic cultural environments. This role also demands sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to build strong relationships across diverse teams. A solid understanding of museum operations—combined with administrative expertise, strategic thinking, and strong project and time-management skills—is essential. Responsibilities include managing confidential and time‑sensitive materials, supporting daily administrative needs, and assisting with scheduling or logistical coordination as required.

This is a 9-month term opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Manages projects anticipating department needs. This includes planning, executing, and tracking progress to ensure alignment with strategic goals along with compiling SOP’s, Plans & Policies content. Ensure all projects are produced to the highest quality standard
  • Communication and Coordination: Manages correspondence and communications effectively. Engages collaboratively across various museum departments, especially with the Director’s office, People & Culture, Finance, and Information Technology
  • Budgeting and Reporting: Assist in the budgeting process and monthly reporting for the People and Culture department. Ensures timely execution of financial responsibilities such as expense reconciliation
  • Meeting Logistics: Manages and supports with scheduling, meeting logistics, preparing agendas, and coordinating technical requirements
  • Strategic Initiative Support: In partnership with the CSO and Security Manager, monitor and report on the execution of the department’s strategic priorities
  • Confidential Support : Provide high-level confidential support related to the professional responsibilities of the CSO, Security Manager, and Director’s Office. Evaluate incoming requests and materials to prioritize alignment with department goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, or related field; equivalent project and schedule management experience acceptable
  • Paralegal certification and experience in law enforcement or legal environments strongly preferred
  • 3-4 years of hands-on project management experience overseeing complex, multi-dependency initiatives in C-level, start-up, or arts institution settings
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management programs; strong technical writing skills in legal or law-enforcement contexts
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects within defined scope, budget, and timelines
  • Strong decision-making, implementation, and change management, and relationship building skills
