Summary
The Composite Technician is required to work with a variety of composite materials to produce composite parts. The Composite Technician prepares molds, molds the parts, de-molds and trims. Use of hand tools, ovens and an autoclave are required to perform this job. The employee is also responsible for visual inspection and handling of products, equipment and materials. Moderate lifting can be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Precut and kit fabrics and resins in preparation of Laminations.
- Implement and comply with Material Process Sheets used as manufacturing procedures.
- Perform skills associated with the function of an Autoclave.
- Perform operating instructions associated with high temperature ovens.
- Assemble and installation of Thermocouples.
- Monitor expiration of inventoried fabrics and resins.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and 3D CAD models.
- Perform test specimens to verify processes ensure feasibility studies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and department employees to optimize production processes.
- Revise Process Documentation to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing/Production environment/ or relative experience.
- Ability to operate and read a variety of Inspection Tools.
- Knowledge of AS9100 requirements
- The proper candidate will be trained in the skill set on site.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, materials, and cutting tool technology.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adhere to constructive criticism
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Must be able to work as a team and independently.
- Ability and willingness to cross train into additional departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., aerospace, medical)
- Ability to safely operate Hand and Power tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment.
