Position Overview: As a Tax Manager, you will oversee our tax practice and ensure the delivery of excellent tax services to our clients. This role involves managing tax planning, compliance, and preparation services, as well as leading a team of tax professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong tax technical skills, excellent management capabilities, and a proactive approach to client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Planning & Compliance:
- Lead tax planning and compliance services for diverse clients, including estates, corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
- Review and sign tax returns prepared by the tax team.
- Keep abreast of current tax practices and changes in tax law.
- Provide assistance with IRS notices and prepare responses and assist with gathering the information requested.
- Consult on entity structures & other out of scope areas.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Mentor and develop tax staff and seniors, fostering a collaborative and learning environment.
- Manage the workflow of the tax department, ensuring timely execution and quality of work.
- Research new tax laws and provide guidance to team on how to implement them.
- Conduct tax team training annually.
Client Management:
- Build and maintain client relationships, providing exceptional service and strategic tax advice.
- Consult with clients on tax-efficient structuring, tax minimization strategies, and other tax-related matters.
- Submit monthly client billings and monitor client realization.
Process Improvement:
- Streamline tax processes and implement best practices to increase efficiency within the department.
- Ensure the use of technology to optimize tax procedures and data management.
- Ensure staff is in correct roles & understanding to optimize the process.
Risk Management:
- Oversee the management of tax risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Business Development:
- Contribute to the firm's growth by identifying opportunities for additional services and participating in business development efforts.
Additional Duties:
- Meeting or exceeding the billable hour requirements set.
- Other duties as they are assigned.
- Participation in events, special trainings (internal / external), special projects.
- Complete CPE Requirements in accordance with IDFPR regulations
- Billable Time Expectations: 1,300
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field; Master’s degree or advanced tax degree (e.g., MST, LLM in Tax) is preferred.
- CPA required.
- 7 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or tax consultancy, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Knowledgeable in tax compliance and advisory services for various entities and high net worth individuals.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven project management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
