Position Summary:
The Kitchen Assistant reports to the Product and Process Leader and works under the guidance of the Kitchen Coordinator. The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for daily food production, maintaining cleanliness standards, and basic maintenance, as well as:

Position Requirements:
To excel in the in this position, the candidate must demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of baking principals and food preparation with a genuine love of the craft
- Demonstrates high standards of cleanliness and organization to optimize safety and efficiency
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of health code in order to follow proper food handling and food safety recommendations
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of operation of all equipment in the kitchen. Participate in basic maintenance under supervision
Specific Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily production under the direction of the Kitchen Coordinator, including cafe product preparation, bulk beverage preparation, catering preparation, utilizing established recipes to produce consistent, high quality product
- Engage in daily, weekly and quarterly cleaning and maintenance tasks to proactively maintain the kitchen environment, reporting issues, safety hazards and unsafe practices to kitchen leadership
- Assist in the proper rotation of food product, assignment of appropriate expiration dates, and reporting of inconsistency in recipes
- Follow proper food handling, hygiene and safety practices while working in the kitchen to maximize food and personal safety
- Assists in daily waste reporting and production tracking
- Assists in other tasks as directed by the Kitchen Coordinator and/or Product/Process Lead.
Schedule & Compensation:
The Kitchen Assistant is a Part-Time position, with hours ranging between 10 and 15 hours depending on production needs, availability and catering needs. A mixture of time is expected to be split between food production, cleaning, planning and basic maintenance tasks.
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
