Position Summary:
The Head Barista (HB) is a Full-time hourly position that plays an integral role in the daily work at Lucabe Coffee Co. As a senior member of the Hospitality team, the HB reports directly to the Hospitality Leader, who in turn reports directly to the Owners. The HB primarily works alongside the team in service to provide leadership, experience, and organization of the daily operations associated with that location (e.g., training, SOP adherence, food safety, etc.) working in conjunction with LBs and the Hospitality Leader to ensure that the Lucabe Coffee Co. vision is executed with excellence.
Though tasked with a specific Lucabe Coffee Co. location, the HB does not work in isolation. While having no direct reports, the HB engages in a collaborative effort with the location’s barista team to accomplish the daily and weekly goals of the cafe. A key distinction of the Head Barista is Training mastery - both for new team members, teaching the “Lucabe way” and holding standards, and further development of team members such as certifying baristas, and growing other to further their skills and advance in the organization.
The Head Barista is also the first contact on the every day challenges of the cafe operation, leveraging their experience, knowledge, and understanding of Lucabe standards to address challenges in staffing availability, customer concerns, product quality & needs, or facility & equipment issues. Issues beyond the ability to be solved by the HB will be escalated to the Hospitality Leader.
