Job Overview
Support and assist individuals in meeting their emotional, physical, and medical needs as well as carrying out day to day activities. Facilitate effective, positive relationships with participants that are person-centered utilizing positive approach and promote independence throughout all daily activities. Accurately completes all required documentation, including but not limited to, progress notes, incident reports, timesheets, etc. Travel as required. Demonstrated knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures. Knowledge of the behavioral, emotional, and medical issues associated with individuals with behavioral issues and ability to relate to and teach basic learning, self-help and and independent living skills to individuals with behavioral issues pertaining to client population. Must have a driver’s license that conforms to the NC Department of Motor Vehicles. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Counselors to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to residents in a residential setting. Residential Counselors must be committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, medication administration, and fostering a supportive environment for all residents.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) by monitoring and ensuring they take showers, dress appropriately including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Attend regular staff meetings and other required meetings. Convey observations and key issues to visor on an on-going basis. Maintain all training.
- Provide personal care and support to individuals with disabilities in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Administer medications as prescribed to ensure the health and well-being of residents.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to enhance their emotional well-being.
- Implement behavior management strategies as needed to support residents' individual needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of living spaces, ensuring a safe environment for all residents.
- Document resident progress and changes in behavior or health.
- Accurately completes all required documentation, including but not limited to, progress notes, incident reports, timesheets, etc.
- Collaborate with facility to assist with ensuring develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Drive residents to appointments or community activities as required.
Requirements
- Experience in Residential therapeutic care for clients, nursing home, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is beneficial.
- Ability to perform cleaning duties as part of maintaining a safe living environment for residents.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures.
