Summary

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2 years of related experience, preferably in governmental fund accounting and/or auditing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent knowledge of government accounting and other finance related areas including accounting and knowledge of auditing techniques; detail oriented; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely orally and in writing; perform basic mathematical calculations; analyze and interpret data; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, officials and the general public; ability to prepare reports and maintain records. Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing MS EXCEL and WORD software.

Essential Duties
- Collects and compiles data from a variety of sources in the preparation of reports of a financial or statistical nature as directed, maintaining EXCEL spreadsheets as required.
- Monitors and balances specific funds, budgets and accounts for proper presentation of financial statements and general ledger as assigned.
- Prepares reconciliations of journal and/or ledgers, and reports. Routinely prepares journal entries.
- Assists with monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assists with preparing annual financial report.
- Assists in the initial distribution, preparation, and final compilation of the annual budget.
- Resolves procedural, financial, and budget issues with county officials and employees.
- Ensures compliance with laws governing County finances.
- Assists departments with proper accounting procedures, internal controls and compliance with State Statutes, County policies and procedures.
- Reviews all asset and liability accounts for proper classifications and accuracy.
- Assists County officials with proper accounting procedures.
- Ensures compliance with laws governing County finances.
- Must exercise initiative and independent judgment in applying standards to a variety of work situations.
- May assist in developing training manuals and processes for county employees to utilize in the ERP Enterprise system. May create training classes and instruct those classes for County employees.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with co-workers and County department directors.
- May perform other duties as assigned to maintain operations.
- Reports directly to the Internal Audit Manager.
