The Manufacturing Production Manager is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations while driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. This position combines production leadership with technical engineering expertise to optimize manufacturing processes, improve product quality, reduce costs, and support new product introductions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing engineering, CNC machining, welding/fabrication processes, production management, process improvement, and team leadership within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of working closely with production personnel, engineers, maintenance teams, and quality professionals to achieve operational excellence.
- Lead and oversee daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are achieved.
- Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer demands and business objectives.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency, throughput, and on-time delivery.
- Coordinate activities across Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Supply Chain departments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Drive accountability and foster a culture focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Apply engineering principles to improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
- Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing workflows, production cells, and facility layouts.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for production and quality issues.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, process flow diagrams, and manufacturing standards.
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies, automation, tooling, fixtures, and equipment to improve operational performance.
- Oversee CNC machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and customer requirements are met.
- Provide technical guidance regarding machining processes, tooling selection, fixture design, welding methods, and manufacturing best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot production equipment and process issues.
- Optimize machining and welding operations to improve throughput, reduce scrap, and improve quality performance.
- Ensure production teams are following engineering specifications, blueprints, GD&T requirements, and welding standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or similar role.
- Minimum 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or Industrial Engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining operations, machine setup, tooling, fixturing, machining processes, and programming concepts.
- Working knowledge of welding and fabrication processes, including MIG, TIG, and structural welding applications.
- Experience managing machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, or metal manufacturing operations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and GD&T.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software for creating and modifying manufacturing drawings, production layouts, fixtures, tooling, and blueprint designs.
- Experience designing manufacturing solutions, fixtures, tooling, and production improvements using engineering principles.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing planning software.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, automation systems, tooling, and preventative maintenance practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience within semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, precision machining, metal fabrication, or advanced manufacturing industries.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, or other regulated quality management systems.
- Experience with CNC programming, G-Code, Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar manufacturing software.
- Project Management experience leading capital equipment and facility improvement projects.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Validation activities.
- Knowledge of AWS welding standards, ASME standards, and manufacturing best practices.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and spend significant time on the production floor.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and inspect equipment throughout the facility.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely work around manufacturing equipment.
$90,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and industry background.
