Pharmacist

The Pharmacist, in coordination with the Pharmacist in Charge, is responsible for day to day management of pharmacy operations, performing all aspects of the prescription dispensing process and ensuring pharmacy standards are met.

Job responsibilities/Essential functions

· Reviews prescriptions for authenticity and accuracy by reviewing and interpreting physician's orders.

· Compounds and dispenses medications pursuant to physician's orders.

· Provides counseling to customers, patients and caregivers regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, medication storage and over-the-counter medications. Good customer service a must have.

· Monitors patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns.

· Provides specialized education to help patients manage chronic conditions.

· Provides comprehensive medication reviews.

· Manages patient records and pharmacy files on a day to day basis.

· Performs final check on all prescriptions leaving the pharmacy to insure accuracy.

· Complies with all procedures, rules and regulations pursuant to the State Board of Pharmacy.

· Ensures pharmacy policies and procedures are implemented and followed.

· Reports and records adverse drug reactions, incidents and errors.

· Monitors pharmacy work flow and supervises Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacy Clerks.

· Effectively communicates with other team members, customers, patients, caregivers, and health care providers.

· Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

· Maintains confidentiality as required by HIPAA and internal policy. Has full access to Personal Health Information (PHI).

· Assists the Inventory Manager with inventory management and monitoring of returns and outdates.

· Assumes responsibility for daily opening and/or closing of the pharmacy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $67.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
