Job Summary:
The Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and optimizing processes throughout the company. This role focuses on ensuring product quality, reducing waste, and improving efficiency. The Process Improvement Engineer works primarily with production, quality, and transportation teams to drive continuous improvement across all operations. This may include leading initiatives on product lines, managing facility projects, and providing financial and costing analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, improve, and optimize processes to increase efficiency and quality.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, scrap, and downtime.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and EHS teams to solve process-related challenges.
- Lead initiatives to drive revenue growth and cost reduction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Monitor production data, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Design and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production processes.
- Support scale-up of new products and materials from trial runs to full production.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for process and equipment issues.
- Train production employees on process changes and best practices.
- Work with maintenance to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement projects.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to engage others and collaborate across departments.
- Ability to lead and skillfully drive improvement initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Ability to create and interpret technical documents, SOPs, and process flows.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field required.
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or working on the production floor.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. at times.
- Ability to work around fiberglass, dust, resins, and manufacturing equipment with required PPE.
- May require occasional travel between plant locations.
