Job Description:

LT Leon Associates is seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to lead and manage design projects while driving the firm's growth in Wisconsin and the Midwest. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding our operations in Wisconsin through collaboration with key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and adept at balancing technical design with leadership responsibilities. You will oversee civil, ecosystem restoration, and transportation projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards. Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling as well as floodplain analysis will help this candidate excel. Additionally, this role involves mentoring staff, driving quality assurance, and implementing risk management strategies to ensure project success.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage multiple projects, ensuring successful execution from planning to completion.
  • Foster relationships with clients, agencies, consultants to support market expansion.
  • Oversee project scope, budgeting and invoicing, schedule, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery.
  • Lead and conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Perform and review floodplain mapping and flood risk assessments.
  • Actively engage in client management, proposal development, and contract negotiations.
  • Lead and coordinate project meetings with clients, sponsors, and internal teams.
  • Prepare and distribute project documentation, including meeting minutes, monthly progress reports, and quality reviews.
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and implement solutions for project challenges.
  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for a variety of projects.
  • Oversee quality assurance and compliance with permitting requirements.
  • Manage construction administration and field oversight for projects.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing to support business growth and team expansion.
  • Occasional travel for business development, project meetings, professional conferences, quality assurance and meetings at the Des Moines office.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Agricultural, Biosystems, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 6 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership/project management role.

Skills:

  • Effectively communicate with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience preparing engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Experience working with agencies and DOT’s.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Experience conducting hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • PMP Certification (preferred) or demonstrated expertise in project planning, scheduling, and financial management.
