Job Summary/Basic Functions
Comprehensive Dentistry, Program in Dental Hygiene. The Dental Hygiene Program offers a baccalaureate degree in Dental Hygiene. This position includes laboratory, pre-clinical, clinical, and didactic instruction to dental hygiene students and students in other disciplines within LSU Health Sciences Center. This position may also include travel to local extramural rotation sites as well as outreach locations for public health rotations. Candidates must participate in program, department, and school activities and school committees. They will conduct all aspects of lab and clinical teaching using appropriate calibrated assessments and learning-centered instructional methodology. They will provide feedback and evaluate student learning in a fair manner, post and maintain office hours, and advise students assigned to them. They will also calibrate regularly with faculty for consistent instruction and grading in lab, clinical, and classroom settings. Candidates should have knowledge of current concepts in dental hygiene and possess excellent communication skills, both orally and in written form.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's
Required Field of Study: Dental Hygiene
Certifications or Licenses Required: Louisiana State Board of Dentistry and BLS license for Healthcare
Number of years required to perform the job: 3
Type of experience required to perform the job: Minimum of 3 days per week practicing as a dental hygienist for a minimum of 3 years.
