The Project Manager of the Decision Support Team (DST) is responsible for managing the team that will be providing data-driven insights and analysis to inform strategic and operational decisions within the Health Sciences Center. The DST's goal is to blend technical expertise, clinical knowledge, and analytical skills to improve outcomes, optimize processes, and drive business growth. This role involves overseeing the development and maintenance of decision support systems, collaborating with other departments to optimize efficiency, and presenting data to executives in a clear and actionable manner. Duties include the development of business plans, ROls, and P&Ls for new programmatic opportunities and evaluating the financial appropriateness and implications of proposed initiatives. The incumbent coordinates and supports activities related to the financial data necessary to perform essential job functions with minimum supervision and direction. Incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills. Proven employee motivation, group dynamics, problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills required.
Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Chief Business Officer.
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. The work hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM. Additional hours may be required. Lunch/breaks are dictated by workflow.
Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur to assure that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
Essential Position Functions Duties
80% Decision Support Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining business intelligence dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators and identify trends
- Work with the Business Intelligence (Bl) team to create data analytic tools and process to support decision making
- Apply statistical techniques in preparing and reporting of data, including, but not limited to preparing charts and graphs
- Provide financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis to support budgeting, capital planning, and service line profitability evaluations
- Create and analyze spreadsheets and databases to compile and analyze information for projects associated with revenue and expenditures
- Ensuring the integrity, privacy and accessibility of data, including data modeling, integration, and management
- Working with senior leadership, department business managers/chairs, IT, Bl, Ochsner LSU Physician Group (OLPG) and other external stakeholders to understand business needs and communicate analytical findings
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance data quality, efficiency, and decision-making effectiveness
15% Administrative and Management
- Drafts and tracks PER forms for new staff or faculty and for funding changes; ensures accuracy
- Assists with non-immigrant paperwork and collection of necessary documentation
- Maintain required HRM departmental documentation and resources
- Oversees submission of pre-approval forms for travel and expense reimbursement and check request forms. Follows all policies regarding travel and expense reimbursement and ensures available funding within budget
- Serves as primary or backup timekeeper for areas of purview
- Processes purchasing requests for department(s)
Non-Essential Position Functions Duties 5% Marginal Functions (5%)
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
The applicant must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university, plus a minimum of five (5) years of professionally related experience
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Information Systems or related field from an accredited university
- Candidate must demonstrate proficiency with database management/excel, critical thinking and analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and professional customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Information Systems or related field from an accredited university.
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, strategy development, and stakeholder engagement, preferably in a healthcare or academic setting.
- Proven track record of building, managing, and elevating programs that advance organizational goals is required.
- Experience in Business Planning, ROI, and P&L Development
