Job Summary:

The Equipment Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive technical support and expertise to the injection equipment, field service, and sales teams. This position serves as a strategic conduit between internal stakeholders and external design resources and executes on a spectrum of responsibilities centered around project management, capital budget stewardship, collaborative design decision-making, and leadership of external design partners. The role's scope may extend beyond listed responsibilities and encompasses adaptable duties as required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Project Management: Manage assigned projects aimed at continuously enhancing injection equipment to align with the needs of internal and external customers while adhering to ISO quality standards.
  • Capital Budget Stewardship: Monitor capital budgets and expenses associated with equipment projects and makes recommendations to ensure efficient allocation and resource utilization while adhering to financial guidelines.
  • Collaborative Design Decisions: Engage closely with internal stakeholders to shape design decisions that integrate perspectives from various departments. This role will facilitate a unified approach to equipment design that enhances operational efficiency.
  • Leadership of External Design Resources: Lead and coordinate with external design resources to effectively accomplish project tasks and deliverables.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Apply technical acumen to address and resolve complex issues in both equipment manufacturing and field operations, ensuring seamless functionality.
  • Procurement Collaboration: Collaborate with the procurement team to oversee the injection equipment bidding process: optimizing supplier relationships, identifying alternative components, and achieving cost-effective outcomes.
  • Equipment Testing and Validation: Lead testing initiatives to validate alternative equipment, ensuring their compatibility with operational requirements.
  • Design Package Maintenance: Maintain comprehensive design packages for new and deployed units, ensuring accurate documentation and accessibility.
  • Fabrication Compatibility: Work with fabricators to ensure that new designs align with fabrication capabilities and standards.

 

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or petroleum Engineering
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Proficiency in basic hydraulic concepts and the ability to apply them to design decisions
  • Ability to effectively interface and problem-solve with vendors and team members
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines
  • Dedication to internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Strong individual contributor with ability to collaborate
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • ~20% business travel may be required when necessary

 

Preferred/Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of pipeline operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of fabrication processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of CSA and UL requirements for Hazardous Location testing and certification
  • Familiarity with ERP and EAM platforms such as SAP and Maximo
  • Working knowledge of ISO requirements/standards
  • Effective influencing skills, networking ability, and track record of delivering on commitments
