Commercial Assurance Intern

What You Will Be Doing

As an LSL Intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside all professional levels that will provide you with a real-world understanding of public accounting. You will have the opportunity to learn the LSL firm culture and values and at the same time gain valuable knowledge and experience at a top regional accounting firm in Orange County. Our Commercial Assurance Interns will assist the Assurance and Advisory Department during the busy season starting January 2026.

During Your Internship, You Will

  • Assist with audit, review, and compilation procedures under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Help analyze client financial information and prepare supporting workpapers.
  • Participate in testing internal controls and documenting findings through inquiry and observation.
  • Support the team in performing year-end and interim audit procedures, such as inventory counts and reconciliations.
  • Work closely with in-charge auditors to prepare concise, well-organized documentation that clearly communicates your work.
  • Learn how to apply basic audit and accounting principles (FASB, GAAP, SSARS/GAAS) in a real-world setting.
  • Gain exposure to audit software and technology tools used to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Communicate progress and ask questions regularly — collaboration and curiosity are key!
  • Develop professional skills in teamwork, communication, and problem solving.

Education Level: Junior or Senior level currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or economics

Requirements To Be Successful

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, write, speak, and interpret rules, procedures, and routine correspondence in English
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required

Work Authorization

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future.
