Position Overview
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for building, repairing, and assembling metal crates, containers, or related structures using a variety of welding and cutting techniques. This role requires strong attention to detail, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a production or fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Assembly: Read and interpret blueprints or drawings to accurately fabricate and assemble metal components into finished products.
Welding & Cutting: Perform high-quality welds (such as MIG, TIG, or stick) and use cutting equipment, including torches or plasma cutters, to prepare and join materials.
Metalwork: Cut, shape, bend, and fit metal pieces according to specifications; repair or modify existing containers or components as needed.
Component Installation: Install hardware, lids, wheels, or other parts onto completed products.
Tool & Equipment Operation: Safely operate fabrication tools and machinery such as grinders, saws, measuring instruments, and welding equipment.
Documentation & Communication: Complete required paperwork, maintain records of completed work, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Quality Control: Inspect welds and finished products to ensure they meet company standards and customer specifications in a fast-paced production setting.
Finishing Work: Apply paint or coatings to repaired or newly fabricated items as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of welding and fabrication experience preferred.
Cutting Proficiency: Skilled in the use of cutting torches or plasma cutters.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret fabrication and assembly blueprints accurately.
Physical Capability: Able to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials (up to 55 lbs), and work in various positions.
Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with standard shop tools and mechanical equipment.
Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of mechanical principles and fabrication techniques.
