Shipping & Receiving Associate – 2nd Shift

Location: Southeast Houston, TX
Shift: 2nd Shift (e.g., 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
Pay: $19.00/hour

Job Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Forklift Operator is responsible for safely loading, unloading, and moving materials within a manufacturing environment specializing in sheet metal fabrication. This role supports daily shipping and receiving operations, ensures accurate inventory handling, and maintains a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, or reach truck) to move raw materials and finished sheet metal products
• Load and unload trucks with steel, aluminum, and fabricated parts
• Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and proper documentation
• Stage materials for production and organize finished goods for shipment
• Handle sheet metal products carefully to prevent damage (edges, surfaces, finishes)
• Use RF scanners or inventory systems to track materials
• Inspect shipments for damage, defects, or discrepancies
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and dock area
• Follow all safety procedures, especially when handling metal materials and heavy loads

Qualifications

• Previous forklift experience required (certification preferred)
• Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or metal environment strongly preferred
• Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes
• Ability to read work orders, packing slips, and labels
• Basic computer or RF scanner experience
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable attendance and ability to work 2nd shift

Work Environment

• Manufacturing / sheet metal fabrication facility
• Exposure to heat, dust, noise, and sharp materials
• PPE required (steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, etc.)

Preferred Skills

• Experience handling steel or metal products
• Knowledge of inventory control systems
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
