Job Title: Dock Clerk (2nd Shift – 3:00 PM to Close)

Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor / Logistics Manager
Position Summary
The Dock Clerk is responsible for coordinating and monitoring all shipping and receiving activities within a food manufacturing facility during the 2nd shift. This role ensures accurate documentation, proper handling of goods, and compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy against bills of lading, invoices, and purchase orders
- Coordinate dock activities including scheduling trucks and managing loading/unloading operations
- Inspect shipments for damage, quality, and compliance with food safety standards
- Maintain accurate records in warehouse management systems (WMS) and/or ERP systems
- Communicate with drivers, warehouse staff, and supervisors to ensure efficient dock flow
- Ensure proper labeling, lot tracking, and documentation for food products
- Monitor temperature-sensitive shipments and document readings as required
- Enforce FIFO (First In, First Out) and inventory control procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dock areas in accordance with GMP standards
- Report discrepancies, damages, or safety concerns promptly
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of experience in shipping/receiving, preferably in food manufacturing or distribution
- Familiarity with warehouse systems (WMS, ERP) preferred
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, data entry)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures (including refrigerated areas)
- Ability to work around forklifts and heavy equipment
Work Schedule
- Shift: 3:00 PM to close (end time varies based on workload)
- Overtime and weekend work may be required
Work Environment
- Food manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, machinery, and temperature variations and smells
- Must follow all safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations (GMP, HACCP compliance)
