Role Overview: An Opto-Mechanical Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and manufacturing optical payloads for Earth-imaging satellites. The role involves leading optical system engineering efforts from conceptual design to flight, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure payloads meet performance, thermal, structural, and launch survivability requirements. You will manage fabrication, perform analyses, develop documentation, lead design reviews, and support testing and qualification processes. The position requires hands-on hardware experience and a strong background in designing for space environments.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 4 years in opto-mechanical product development, experience with high-reliability space hardware, optical assembly design, and proficiency in hardware testing from prototype to production.
- Skills & Experience: Expertise in optics, manufacturing, metrology, alignment, system engineering principles, vendor management, and familiarity with SolidWorks, Zemax, MATLAB, Python, or C/C . Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to work in dynamic environments.
