About the Role:
We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to join our Energy Marketing & Trading (EM&T) team, with a focus on data projects that support and enhance our operations. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of impactful initiatives such as data centralization for search and analytics, improvements to data pipelines, automated database integrity checks, and completion of migration tasks. These projects, while relatively simple in scope, are essential to the team and offer hands-on experience in executing data solutions using tools like Microsoft Fabric.
You’ll gain exposure to real-world applications of data in the context of energy and commodity markets, including pipeline contracts, renewables interconnection queues, market risk calculations, and more. This role is ideal for someone interested in applying technical skills to practical business problems. You’ll also develop a foundational understanding of the energy markets and how data drives strategic decision-making in this space.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
- Automating manual tasks either through advanced excel tools or programming integrations.
- Data scraping/ingestion from a variety of sources (APIs, web pages, Queues).
- BI Report Creation (Power BI/Shiny).
- Financial data analytics.
Qualifications

- Hold a Bachelor's degree or studying in technical field (physics, engineering, computer science and math). Course work in economics and finance is a plus.
- Have work experience within the energy industry with emphasis on technical responsibilities—not required for undergraduate applicants.
- Demonstrated capabilities of programming languages (Python, R).
- Have experience using SQL to find and organize data that helps move projects forward.
- Advanced excel skills.
