Position: Student Advocate
The Licking Regional Educational Service Center is seeking a Student Advocate to work in the Newark City Schools. The Student Advocate will be responsible for providing guidance and advocacy to students and promoting the five core Social Emotional Learning Competencies of Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making to help them reach their full potential. Build trusting relationships with students, assess and define challenge areas, develop goals and provide accountability and encouragement. Provide support, guidance, instruction and accountability to students in a variety of settings including individual, small group and/or classroom. Link students and their families to school and community resources; Maintain communication with administration, teachers, students, and families.
Qualifications:
●Completion of undergraduate core program, public education or social work, behavioral science, child development or comparable education
●4 yrs training or experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial, as related to youth development, juvenile corrections/detention and/or public education
●Excellent oral communications skills, professional writing ability, and the ability to listen and relate to students and adults
●Understanding of or motivated to acquire cultural competency in a high poverty environment
Salary will be based on experience and licensure.
