Real Estate Acquisitions Associate
Location: San Rafael, CA
Job Type: Full-time, In-Person
Compensation: From $70,000-$80,000 base salary, plus performance-based bonus and transaction-related incentive compensation

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Real Estate Acquisitions Associate to join our team in San Rafael, California. This is an in-person position and is ideal for a junior real estate professional who wants to build a career in acquisitions, development, and retail commercial real estate.

This role may be a strong fit for someone coming from:

  • retail commercial brokerage,
  • tenant representation,
  • site selection,
  • or an in-house real estate role with a retail or restaurant brand.

The right candidate is organized, driven, professional, and eager to learn. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants hands-on exposure to sourcing deals, evaluating sites, managing relationships, and helping move transactions from early pursuit through closing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate potential acquisition, redevelopment, and land opportunities, with a focus on retail and hospitality projects
  • Source both on-market and off-market opportunities through broker relationships, direct outreach, market mapping, and field research
  • Build and maintain relationships with property owners, brokers, developers, tenants, and other industry contacts
  • Assist with site selection and market research for retail and restaurant users
  • Analyze demographics, traffic counts, competition, access, visibility, and surrounding land uses
  • Support due diligence efforts, including zoning review, entitlement research, title matters, and preliminary site feasibility
  • Prepare deal summaries, market overviews, and internal acquisition packages
  • Track pipeline activity, maintain follow-up, and help keep opportunities moving
  • Coordinate with internal team members, consultants, attorneys, brokers, and municipalities throughout the acquisition process
  • Support brokerage and third-party assignments as the company expands in those areas
  • Travel periodically within Northern California and other western U.S. markets as needed

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in commercial real estate, retail brokerage, tenant representation, site selection, acquisitions, or a related field
  • Strong interest in retail real estate, development, and deal-making
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable with cold calling, outreach, and relationship building
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and desire to grow
  • Proficiency in Excel, Google Workspace, and general CRM/database tracking
  • Bachelor’s degree is helpful, but not required
  • California real estate license is a plus, but not required

Compensation

Base salary starts at $70,000-$75,000 per year, depending on experience.

In addition to base salary, this role offers meaningful upside compensation tied to performance. Total compensation can be significantly higher for candidates who perform at a high level and help drive transactions forward.

Performance-based compensation may include incentives tied to:

  • deal sourcing,
  • transaction milestones,
  • acquisition fee participation,
  • brokerage-related revenue,
  • and successful deal completion.

Compensation details will be discussed further during the interview process based on experience, role fit, and expected contribution.
