Responsibilities:
- Assist Sushi Chefs with daily food preparation and department operations.
- Prepare ingredients, including vegetables, sauces, garnishes, and sushi rice.
- Prepare basic sushi rolls and other simple menu items according to company recipes and presentation standards.
- Prepare and package grab-and-go and takeout orders as needed.
- Restock ingredients, supplies, and packaging materials throughout the shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked sushi station, prep area, and refrigeration units.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store all prepared products.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning equipment, tools, and workstations.
- Communicate with Sushi Chefs and management regarding inventory levels, product needs, and operational concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Sushi Department.
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is preferred but not required.
- Interest in learning sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Food Handler Certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain one.
