What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Scientist/Geologist position at LP Environmental?
LP Environmental (www.lpeng.com) is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist. We are an environmental contracting and consulting company specializing in soil drilling/probing; groundwater remediation (mobile vacuum trailer); demolition and demolition management; environmental assessments; permits; reporting; and routine sampling.
We are based in Murfreesboro, TN and service areas include all of TN, KY, GA, AL, NC, MS, and IL. We work between Nashville and Memphis and between Nashville and Knoxville very regularly.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a relevant subject is required for this position.
Workload would include field, office, and equipment support. After a training period, the duties would likely include the following:
- Soil borings and monitoring wells installation and sampling
- Groundwater remediation
- Stormwater sampling at local sites, including data entry/reporting
- Reporting, data entry, etc.
- Assist with construction projects, tankpulls, and demolition
- Travel regularly for field work/activities
- Out of town trips vary, but consist of 1-2 nights per week regularly
- Company paid travel
- Drive yourself and equipment to/from job sites if needed
Types of sites include UST sites, industrial manufacturing facilities, commercial facilities, railroad facilities, gas/service stations, undeveloped property, and landfills.
A clean driving record and successful background check is required for this position. Experience with work trucks and experience with trailers is desired. Experience with equipment and basic mechanical knowledge would be very helpful.
This position will require field work and thus the field work may be primarily performed in outside environments collecting soil and groundwater samples and providing hands-on construction-type activities in typical southeast US seasonal conditions. When preforming field work, frequent lifting and the ability to work 12 hours a day are required for this position.
