Job Description: Air Operations Planner SME
Clearance: U.S Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Requirement: Immediate hire, Full time, Full benefits.
Work week: 8 hrs/day
Work Location:
- Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport.
- Must be willing and able to travel (up to 25% of the time).
Salary: $105
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or military leadership experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- Senior Service School graduate.
- Joint Forces Staff College or PMEII graduate.
Job Summary: The SME will be responsible for transforming strategic objectives into actionable plans while working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including Combatant Commands, Allied and Partner Nations, Component-level air planning organizations, and adversary air forces.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a commissioned officer or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent.
- Proven experience in Air Force or Joint Air Operations Planning, preferably at the operational or strategic level, including experience in adversary air operations and OPFOR tactics.
- Experience working with Combatant Commands, Air Component Commands, or equivalent-level organizations.
- Strong understanding of both adversary and allied air capabilities, doctrine, and campaign planning, including OPFOR tactics and counter-air operations.
- Experience developing training exercises, simulations, and operational scenarios, particularly in multi-national and joint-force environments.
- Ability to develop and execute adversary air plans and create realistic, challenging training environments that simulate complex operational threats.
Job Summary:
- Lead the exercise planning, targeting, force allocation, and execution timelines, ensuring synchronization across all participants.
- Analyze operational environments, emerging threats, and adversary capabilities to inform mission planning and decision-making.
- Develop and refine adversary air campaign plans, opposing force (OPFOR) tactics, and detailed exercise scenarios, including the integration of adversary air operations.
- Facilitate coordination and collaboration with Combatant Commands, Allied and Partner Nations, air syndicates, and adversary air planners to develop exercise training objectives and campaign scenarios.
- Construct and maintain accurate Orders of Battle (OB) for adversary, allied/partner, and U.S. air forces, ensuring realism in exercises and operations.
- Integrate and synchronize air operations across joint and coalition components within the Joint Operations Planning Process (JOPP).
- Serve as the Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) for planning functions related to air operations exercises, campaign simulations, and adversary air planning.
- Provide expert advice on adversary air capabilities, air superiority operations, and effective counter tactics to shape training objectives and exercise outcomes..
