Job description: Skim Evaporator and Reverse Osmosis (RO) Operator
Basic Function:
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating Equipment: Operating and monitoring evaporator and RO systems to concentrate liquids, adjusting parameters such as temperature, flow rates, and pressure.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Performing clean-in-place (CIP) procedures on evaporators, RO membranes, silos, and heat exchangers to ensure sanitary conditions.
- Quality Control & Testing: Continuously testing products for total solids, pH, and chemical concentration, and pulling samples for laboratory analysis.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving mechanical or electrical issues in the process equipment.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate logs and records of operation and cleaning schedules.
- Loading/Transfer: Loading finished condensed products into tankers for shipment.
Required Skills:
· Knowledge of RO membrane systems and evaporator technology.
· Ability to perform chemical sanitization.
· Troubleshooting skills for mechanical/electrical issues.
· Adherence to safety protocols (e.g., OSHA, HACCP).
Evaporator operators frequently work with manual systems as well as computers or control systems to monitor processes and make adjustments.
Responsibilities:
· Operate the separator system according to defined processing parameters to achieve optimum processing efficiencies and to ensure the highest quality product while minimizing downtime; this includes the Skim HTST, Separator, Cream HTST
· Monitor and document processes as required and perform quality control checks, making changes to the processes as necessary to maintain quality
· Ensure all process documentation is completed correctly at designated intervals and entered into DSI as required
· Ensure all recording charts are properly documented according to company and regulatory regulations
· Assist with receiving and shipping of bulk products
· Perform CIP of product tanks, processing lines, and load-out lines; perform manual cleaning as necessary
· Perform general housekeeping duties and master sanitation schedule tasks as necessary
· Perform limited maintenance as required
· Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of the position
· Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the facility and common areas
· Maintain cooperative working relationships and communications with employees from all other departments and peers
· Other duties may be assigned as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Able to perform basic quality testing as necessary, including but not limited to total butterfat%
· Able to understand the cream HTST system to effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise
· Able to use and understand calculations, production rates and fluid inventories
· Able to prepare and comprehend master sanitation schedules
· Able to perform routine machine adjustments
· Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
