What are the responsibilities and job description for the RSP Special Education Teacher position at LowKey Speech Teletherapy?
Position Overview
This position will serve students in grades TK–8th on a single campus within the district program. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students across a variety of eligibility categories, with particular experience working with students demonstrating behavioral challenges and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
This is a fully in-person position. Remote instruction is not available.
The RSP Teacher will collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success through individualized instruction, accommodations, behavioral supports, and compliance with special education procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized academic instruction and support services for students with IEPs
- Support students across multiple qualification areas with emphasis on behavioral support needs
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavioral interventions within educational settings
- Conduct educational assessments and complete required reports
- Develop, write, and manage IEPs in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, administrators, and families
- Support implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Maintain organized documentation, progress monitoring, and student records
- Participate as an active member of the educational team
Qualifications
- Fully credentialed California Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate)
- Must be fully authorized and cleared to work in California schools
- Experience working with students with behavioral challenges and BIPs
- Strong understanding of special education compliance and IEP processes
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Organized, flexible, and team-oriented mindset
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
Schedule & Assignment Information
- Full-time position
- 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
- Follows the MCUSD school calendar and holiday schedule
- August 2026 through June 2027
- Single TK–8 campus assignment within the district program
