The Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborate (LPVEC) has an immediate opening for a Transportation Driver Supervisor. The Transportation Driver Supervisor supports student transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities by supervising bus drivers, ensuring compliance with school bus regulations and safety protocols, identifying and addressing the training needs for drivers and monitors, and keeping documentation up to date in accordance with the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative (LPVEC), District, State, and Federal standards, policies, and laws.
Qualifications include:
•Must possess a valid CDL and School Bus Drivers license.
•Must have experience as a school bus driver with a good driving record.
•Possesses a strong work ethic, is dependable, and has follow-through.
•Must be computer literate and know school bus routing and driver scheduling.
•Requires working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to student transportation.
•Possesses the ability to enforce LPVEC policies and procedures consistently and fairly.
•Must have the ability to direct and work with drivers, monitors, and mechanics professionally and respectfully.
•Requires the ability to work effectively with management through daily interactions and suggest ways to make operations more efficient.
•Must possess a positive and professional attitude toward co-workers, students, district administrators, parents, guardians, and caregivers.
•Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with students and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
•Must demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette and manage difficult calls appropriately.
•Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.
•Possesses knowledge of and experience with regulations about school bus operations and inspections by the Registry of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Public Utilities.

Essential Job Function:
•Assists the Transportation General and Site Manager with managing the Transportation Department and overseeing drivers and monitors.
•Reports all staff disciplinary issues to the Transportation General Manager and the Site Manager.
•Participates in disciplinary actions and follows up with employees to confirm to the Director of Human Resources that the employee's performance has improved. Makes recommendations to the Director of Human Resources regarding the appropriate level of corrective action and retraining to implement.
•Assists with scheduling and routing students based on the needs of the member districts.
•Arranges and schedules field trips for member districts. Coordinates the bidding and assignment processes for transportation employees.
•Supervises all LPVEC bus drivers (e.g., employee concerns/problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, employee performance evaluations, etc.) to monitor performance, support professional growth, and ensure department work goals are met.
•Supervises the bus mechanics and coordinates vehicle maintenance, repairs, and the assignment of spare vehicles.
•Coordinates with transportation managers to schedule spare drivers and bus monitors.
•Stays updated on all school transportation rules and regulations, and notifies the Executive Director of any changes.
•Evaluates bus driver performance to ensure they meet basic skill standards and comply with state certification requirements.
•Provides training on all mandated safety regulations for school transportation drivers.
•Forwards student discipline referrals to the appropriate staff.
•Collects and forwards accident reports to appropriate personnel.
•Maintains manual and electronic documents, files, and records to document activities and/or provide an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
•Observes drivers before each route begins to ensure that everyone is fit for duty. Reports any concerns to the Transportation General Manager immediately.
•Coordinates school bus inspection schedules according to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
•Available as a spare driver when needed.
•Coordinates various programs to deliver information and recognition.
•Works effectively as part of a TEAM to support the smooth operation of all aspects of the Transportation Department.
•Participates in meetings, in-service trainings, workshops, and similar events to convey or gather information needed to perform job duties.
•Prepares various documents and reports (such as activity reports, training handouts, safety information guidelines, driver evaluations, and more) to provide information to bus drivers, other district personnel, the LPVEC, and outside agencies as required by established procedures and guidelines.
•Available outside of regular work hours as needed.
•Notifies the Transportation Manager of any issues.
•Prepares and reviews payroll and verifies with the GPS system.
•Performs other duties as required by the Transportation General Manager and /or the Executive Director.
