The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and managing preventive and corrective maintenance plans to optimize equipment uptime and reliability. This role ensures that all maintenance work is planned, scheduled, and coordinated efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. This role would be a working supervisory position reporting to the Maintenance Director.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities and insure that the maintenance team carries out those schedules
- Review work requests, assess priority, and define scope of work
- Coordinate maintenance activities with operations, engineering, and contractors
- Order and manage spare parts and materials to ensure availability for scheduled tasks
- Create job plans, including labor, tools, parts, safety procedures, and estimated time
- Track and analyze maintenance performance using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Improve preventive maintenance strategies based on data and reliability trends
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, plans, and equipment history
- Support audits, compliance efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the maintenance parts room
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure critical spares are stocked appropriately
- Work with purchasing and vendors to source and replenish parts as needed
- Support regular cycle counts and annual physical inventory audits
- Implement improvements to storeroom layout, labeling, and part categorization for efficiency and accessibility
